As many as 6,794 new voters have been enrolled in Perambalur district following the summary revision of electoral rolls, Swaran Singh, Managing Director, SIPCOT, and Special Observer, said here on Thursday.

According to an official release, he was reviewing the progress of the summary revision of electoral rolls conducted in the district.

Of the 18,854 applications received for inclusion in the rolls in both Perambalur and Kunnam Assembly constituencies, 6,794 applicants have just completed 18 years of age, he pointed out.

According to the draft rolls published on October 1,2012, Peramablur constituency had 2,45,155 voters (1,20,515 male voters and 1,24,631 female voters and nine other voters) and Kunnam constituency had 2,26,840 electors (1,12,610 men, 1,14,222 women and eight others). Thus the total number of voters in the district was 4,71,995.

Following the summary revision that commenced on October 1 and ended on November 20, new applications for inclusion were received.
