About 500 students from 15 colleges participated in the Microsoft app fest at Jayaram College of Engineering and Technology on Tuesday.
They developed, coded and uploaded their applications in Windows 8 platform in the presence and supervision of Microsoft mentors, trainers and Microsoft Student Partners (MSPs).
Microsoft had identified three students - P.Manjula, P.Illayanila and S.Banupriya - from final-year MCA course at the host institution as MSPs.
Microsoft provided the students with free software such as Visual Studio Express for Windows 8 and with free Windows Store registration codes through Microsoft DreamSpark.
The focus was on broad-based consumer applications, incorporating education, games and applications for social good.
A team from Hyderabad Microsoft office represented by senior official Vikas conducted the event, and tested the applications. Selected applications were registered in Windows lab.
The best applications will be available in Microsoft windows store and anybody across the globe can download these applications from Microsoft windows store on payment. The Microsoft will share the profit with the students.
The Microsoft gave certificates to students who participated in the venture. College chairman M. Subramaniam handed over the certificates in the presence o f principal N. Kannan.
