Four persons working in a match factory in Gudiyatham — Amuda (35), Kumar (27), Vimala (52) and Panjavarnam (27)—were injured in a fire on Saturday.

According to sources, the fire occurred when Kumar, who was carrying chemicals meant for manufacture of matches, slipped and fell. The chemicals which spilled caught fire owing to friction.

The injured were admitted to the Government Hospital, Gudiyatham. Padmini (43), owner of the match factory, has been arrested.

P. Sankar, Collector of Vellore, and N. Shanmugasundaram, Revenue Divisional Officer, Vellore, called on the injured at the hospital on Saturday night.
