Thirty-nine prisoners lodged in central jails across the State are appearing for the Plus-Two examinations that began on Friday. The candidates were moved to the Puzhal central prison here, the exam centre.

Prior to the examination, the prison authorities had arranged for coaching/study materials in association with voluntary organisations, police sources said.

Last year, the central prisons had recorded 100 per cent results in Plus-Two examinations.

Of the 35 candidates who had appeared, 27 passed out with 60 per cent or above marks.

Among the toppers were A.G. Perarivalan and Murugan alias Sriharan, convicts facing death penalty in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the sources added.
