Officials of the labour department have booked 342 cases against commercial establishments in Tiruchi and Pudukottai districts for various violations of the law. The violations were detected during surprise checks conducted by department officials recently. Cases were booked against 63 establishments for failing to provide lunch break to their employees, and 134 others for failing to provide weekly holiday or failure to maintain registers. The other cases pertained to various other violations of the law, according to a press release from S.Sundarraj, Assistant Commissioner (enforcement) of Labour, Tiruchi.
