Thirty four employees of Tasmac liquor outlets in the district have been placed under suspension by the District Manager for alleged irregularities forcing the Government to incur a loss to the tune of several lakh rupees.
District Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy told The Hindu on Saturday that these persons did not maintained proper records and did not remitted the money collected through sales in the bank account on time.
“The manager of Tasmac has stated that the persons used to rotate a portion of the money among themselves and remit at a later date.” The persons who have been placed under suspension said that they were forced to meet sales target that was increased by the District Manager and other Tasmac officials within a few months.
District Manager of Tasmac, Shanmugaraja, could not be contacted for comments.
