They will be distributed on January 25

As many as 30,499 new voters included in the voters list would be given Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) at a function organised to mark the National Voters Day here on January 25, said V. Arun Roy, Collector, here on Thursday.

Mr. Roy presided over a meeting held at the Collectorate in this regard. Mr. Roy said that the celebrations will be held at all the designated polling booths in the district. To create awareness among the people on voting rights, a rally will be organised. About 2,000 students, general public, members of SHGs and NGOs would participate. The National Voters' Day will be celebrated at Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

Besides this, the celebrations will be held at all the taluk headquarters, polling booths in the villages. Respective tahsildars will preside over the function at the taluk level.

It was decided to organise essay competitions for school students on ‘Voting is the duty of every voter.' Advertisements will be given in local television channels about the programme. C.
