MADURAI: Plus Two examinations commenced here on Monday amid tight invigilation. As many as 25,336 students from 205 higher secondary schools in three educational districts of Madurai, Melur and Usilampatti appeared for Language Paper I at 62 centres.
Of the 435 candidates registered under private category, 395 took the examination. Despite sufficient information provided to them, some invigilators were confused with the 10-minute time allotted for students to read question papers before taking the examination.
Collector S.S. Jawahar monitored the arrangements and visited three examination centres at Kakkaipadiniyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, Ilango Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School and Nirmala Girls Higher Secondary School.
Chief Educational Officer R. Pandurangan, district educational officers, Corporation officials and Chief Educational Officer (SSA) K. Sridevi made a flying visit to various schools in rural areas across the district to prevent malpractices.
“We try to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a fair manner free from malpractices. Even police officials are involved in the flying squad. Some visited centres in Peraiyur, Kottaipatti and Athipatti,” said Mr. Pandurangan.
