KARUR: Whatever be the impediment or financial implication, the DMK government would strive to ensure that all welfare and development schemes would continue, Karur MP K.C. Palanisamy said at Mookanankurichi near here on Sunday.
Speaking after distributing free colour television sets to villagers here, Mr. Palanisamy observed that the State Government was extending a lot of benefits to the local bodies and was shoring up the image of them in terms of development works and social benefits. On the occasion, a total of 2,181 families got the television sets.
When the Opposition parties wanted the State Government to discontinue the distribution of colour television sets to people and instead concentrate on disaster relief works, the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi rightly pointed out that the Government was in a position to further both the causes.
Special Deputy Collector Thirumurthy presided while the Karur Revenue Divisional Officer R. Seethalakshmi welcomed the gathering. Thanthoni Panchayat Union chairman Bank K. Subramanian, Mookanankurichi panchayat president M. Sivasamy, and others participated.
