Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation plans to operate as many as 2,000 buses to and from different towns of the State in view of Karthigai Deepam festival.

Announcing this on Monday, District Collector Vijay Pingale said the buses would not be allowed to enter the town on Karthigai Deepam day that falls on 27{+t}{+h}of this month, but would be stopped at temporary bus stands set up on the outskirts of the town in every direction. All the nine focal roads leading into the town would have each one temporary bus stand, as is the practice every year, he added.

He also said that at each temporary bus stand a hoarding bearing auto fares to particular locations would be erected. Auto drivers should collect only the fees mentioned in the hoarding. At important destinations, NSS volunteers will receive the commuters alighting from auto and hand over a feedback form. They will collect feedback on auto travel, fare collected, and number of the auto rickshaw.

Dr.Pingale requested the devotees coming from other towns to avoid carrying plastic disposables since they are banned in Tiruvannamalai town.
