Two workers in the brick kiln were killed after a lorry hit the two-wheeler they were riding on the road from Mambakkam to Cheyyar on Thursday morning.

According to police, Dhanasekar (30) of Jayanthi Colony in Vadugampattu, Cheyyar taluk, was riding the bike with his friend Ramu alias Ramachandran (31) of Vadugampattu, Cheyyar taluk, on the pillion. They were on their way to Vadugampattu.

When they reached a turning between Kannigapuram and Thatacheri at 9.45 a.m. , a tipper lorry going from Cheyyar towards Arni hit the two-wheeler, knocking them down. Dhanasekar died on the spot, while Ramachandran was rushed to the Government Hospital at Cheyyar. He was referred to Kancheepuram Government Hospital, where he died, police said.

Vallapandal police said the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving of lorry driver Perumal of Vinnampadi.

Police have registered a case against Perumal, who is absconding.

The police have seized the lorry.
