The school education department on Thursday presented 178 upper primary students inspire science award and certificates at Anna Science Centre Planetarium.

Chief Educational Officer K. Selvakumar handed over cheques for Rs. 5,000 to the students to come up with inspiring working models in the presence of Additional CEO–Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) V. Jeyakumar.

Director of Anna Science Centre Planetarium Alagirisamy Raju explained how teachers could make the classroom interaction interesting with simple experiments to build the scientific temper of students.

On Wednesday, the school education department trained middle school headmasters and officials in the department of elementary education on the ways to preserve greenery on school campus. The programme conducted under the aegis of SSA, with the support of Green Biodiversity, an environmental organisation, benefitted 323 headmasters, 31 elementary education department officials, and 16 block resource supervisors, a release said.
