CHENNAI: The Video Piracy Cell of the Crime Branch CID police on Thursday raided a house at Kasturba Nagar in Adyar and recovered 15,000 compact discs containing pirated versions of Tamil and other language movies.

According to police sources, a special team acting on the instructions of Additional Director General of Police (CBCID) Archana Ramasundaram raided the house of A. Murugan (27) and seized the CDs along with 19 CD writers and other electronic gadgets used to commit the offence.

Extradition

On the ‘Gold Quest’ case, Ms.Ramasundaram said charge sheet was filed by the agency in February. “We have requested the court to take the case on file at the earliest so that extradition proceedings can be initiated to apprehend four accused persons who are in foreign countries. The case involves cheating the public to the tune of Rs.1,100 crore of which Rs.320 crore was in Tamil Nadu alone,” she said.
