As many as 77 persons were arrested in connection with the torching of a TNSTC bus near Uthangarai, pelting of six buses with stones and attempting to block roads in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts on Wednesday condemning the arrest of PMK founder leader S. Ramadoss.

According to Krishnagiri Superintendent of Police S.R. Senthil Kumar, 33 persons were arrested in Krishnagiri on Wednesday.

Of this, 15 were arrested for torching a TNSTC bus near Uthangarai and 18 persons for attempting to block road near Kaveripattinam.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation buses were operated with police protection from Hosur, Uthangarai and Krishnagiri. The buses plying through the National Highways were also operated with police escorts.

The police also arrested 44 persons for resorting to road blockade at Palacode, Perumbalai and Marandaalli towns in Dharmapuri district, sources in the District Police Office said.

All the arrested were remanded to judicial custody.
