DHARMAPURI: Fourteen persons were arrested on the charges of selling adulterated petrol at petty shops and cycle shops in Dharmapuri on Friday.

Tip-off

A release issued by Maheswari Ravikumar, Collector (in-charge), said that on a tip-off, the officials led by Dharmapuri Tahsildhar Mani raided the shops on Ariakulam Koot Road in Krishnapuram along with Village Development Officers and the police.

During the raid, the officials found that the petrol was illegally kept for sale at some shops and seized it.

The seized petrol was handed over at the Krishnapuram Police Station and a case was registered under section 285 of IPC.

The public were warned not to keep petrol, diesel and other fuels without permit. The violators would be booked under the Act.
