TIRUPUR: Coimbatore Collector Neeraj Mittal has appealed to the voters to provide photographs for the photo electoral rolls as early as possible. Around 1.35 lakh residents are yet to provide their photographs in Tirupur Assembly constituency.
"I appeal to the voters to give their photographs to the field staff who visit their houses to prepare the draft photo electoral rolls. Otherwise their names will be eliminated from the rolls, '' he told reporters here on Wednesday.
Mr. Mittal accompanied by the Revenue Divisional Officer and Returning Officer of Tirupur Assembly Constituency L. Nirmal Raj conducted surprise checks at Angeripalayam and AVP Layout here as part of third field verification for photo electoral rolls.
Of the 3.98 lakh voters in the constituency, 1.35 lakh are yet to provide their photographs. "Being an industrial town with a large number of migrant workforce, we found, during the field survey, over 40,000 voters were not residing in the address and probably they might have shifted their place,'' Mr. Mittal said.
In Tirupur, the authorities gave 80,000 notices to the voters directing them to provide photographs.
