The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with The Asia Foundation distributed books to schools in Puducherry on Thursday as part of their literacy mission. As many as 1,200 books were distributed to various schools and colleges.

T. Thiagarajan, Education Minister, Puducherry, distributed the books to the heads of schools in the presence of CII representatives.

A CII release said The Asia Foundation had been donating books through its Books for Asia (BFA) programme to universities, schools, libraries, public institutions, and non-profit organizations throughout Asia for more than 50 years. In recent years, under the partnership with CII, it had donated more than 60,000 books to various schools and educational institutions in the country. It would serve the students from underprivileged sections.
