Tiruvannamalai: S.K.P. Engineering College (SKPEC), Tiruvannamalai, has placed 110 students among its 2009 pass outs in various middle level companies all over India through a recruitment camp organised in the college campus.
While distributing appointment letters to these candidates on Wednesday, college chairman K. Karunanidhi said, “this is last of a series of recruitment camps held in the college to place all the 2009 pass outs from the college. We have placed 95 per cent of them and remaining people have opted for higher studies. While even leading institutions of the State had tough times this year in placing their students, it became possible for SKPEC thanks to the contacts it maintained with middle level companies along with leading companies. When top ten companies stopped recruitment due to recession, the middle level companies came forward to recruit our students, as they are already in our contact,” he said.
“The candidates may not remain working in the same companies for ages. But this should be a good opening for them. They should earn good name for themselves, the alma mater and the State in their maiden employment, so that the employer could like for candidates from this part of the nation. Salary range of the selected candidates is between Rs. 14,500 – Rs. 18,000 during 6 month probationary period and it may raise considerably after that. They could not always get a good employment in their backyard,” he added.
