Eleven persons including the crew of a bus sustained injuries in an accident on Thursday.
The driver of the State Transport Corporation bus lost control over it and the vehicle fell on its side at Mottur near here.
Admitted to hospital
The injured have been admitted to the Salem Government Medical College Hospital.
The police said that the accident took place when the town bus was proceeding to Salem Old Bus Stand from T. Perumapalayam village after a overnight halt.
The bus left Perumapalayam around 5.30 a.m. When driver Kadirvel (32) took a sharp turn, he lost control over the bus. It fell into a road side trench.
On seeing the accident, those working in the nearby fields rescued the passengers. The police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and made arrangements to send the inured to the hospital.
The Veeranam police have registered a case and are investigating.
