CHENNAI: Nearly 1,000 visitors to the Marina Beach on Wednesday participated in a diabetes camp organised by the Chennai Corporation’s Health Department.

Officials said that after being checked thrice, a total of 112 persons were found to have diabetes. They were provided referral cards and told to consult a diabetologist.

Mayor M. Subramanian, who inaugurated the camp, said that such mega camps would be a regular feature. Mr. Subramanian, who also went around the beach and enquired about the plastic ban, said that he directed officials to place more boards about the ban.
