About 10 kilogram of ganja was found in an abandoned bag in the Howrah – Kanyakumari express in the early hours of Wednesday. The narcotic substance that was kept in various packets was handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post at Tiruchi. Railway sources said an RPF train escort team was alerted about the absence of a traveller in the S-3 coach and the abandoned baggage. The escort personnel who opened the abandoned baggage in the presence of the coach TTE found ganja concealed in six packets.

The substance was detected when the train was running between Villupuram and Kandambakkam. and was later handed over to the Narcotics Intelligence Branch, CID of State Police, the sources added.
