BHUBANESWAR: Orissa's nationally acclaimed women athletes – Olympian Anuradha Biswal, Namita Samal and Parbati Sethi – joined the 50 {+t} {+h} national open athletic championship that commenced at Kochi in Kerala on Saturday.

Sources in the Directorate of Sports here informed that while Anuradha would represent Orissa, Namita and Parbati would represent their employer Indian Railways in the four-day meet. Sprinter Anuradha would participate in her two favourite events – 100 meters hurdles and 100 meters race. She claimed gold in the recently concluded inter-state athletic meet held at Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, it was learnt.

Noted coach Rupanwita Panda has been appointed manager of the Orissa squad, the sources added.
