CHANDIGARH: A woman identified as 45-year-old Darshana Devi of Kurukshetra on Monday attempted suicide outside the office of the Haryana Director-General of Police in Sector 6 of Panchkula.
An official spokesman said the woman, a resident of Professor Colony, Kurukshetra, reached the Haryana Police headquarters on Monday morning and informed the sentry on duty that she had reportedly consumed a poisonous substance.
She was immediately rushed to the General Hospital where her condition, as per the hospital staff, was stable and, “as of now, no definite symptoms of poisoning are obvious''. However, a conclusive opinion would be available after the chemical analysis report was received, he added.
He further said that on March 5 this year Darshna Devi had lodged a complaint at the Thanesar police station against one Dilpukar of village Sanoli Kalan (Panipat) alleging that he had raped her on the night of March 2-3. A criminal case was registered on her complaint and investigation was taken up by the local police. Subsequently, on her request, this investigation was transferred to the State Crime Branch on May 14 and entrusted to a team headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
