It will also recommend wage revision for State Govt. staff
Khanduri calls agricultural loan waiver in Budget, salary hike proposals as poll gimmicks of Centre
State plans to raise four battalions of Eco Task Force using own resources to save the Himalayas
DEHRA DUN: The Uttarakhand Government will set up a committee, comprising economic experts, to study the Sixth Pay Commission report and recommend wage revision for the State Government employees which would be considered and implemented.
Announcing this here on Wednesday, Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri said his government would revise the pay structure as far as possible within the State’s resources.
“We want to increase the efficiency of our employees by providing them maximum facilities, but, the government would have to see its resources before taking any decision,” the Chief Minister said. Describing the Rs.60,000-crore agricultural loan waiver in the Union Budget and the salary hike proposals now for Central Government employees as poll gimmicks of the Congress-led Government at the Centre, Mr. Khanduri said it would have been better if the Centre had consulted the States also while finalising the Sixth Pay Commission report. He also expressed concern over the improper utilisation of the Budget allocation to different State departments.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand plans to raise four battalions of the Eco Task Force on its own as the response for funding from the Union Environment and Defence Ministries had been negative, said the Chief Minister.
“We have to save the Himalayas from further degradation and Uttarakhand will use its own resources for the cause of safeguarding the ecological future of the country,” Mr. Khanduri said, adding that the step would also generate re-employment opportunities for ex-Servicemen. Congratulating the staff for securing the first position in the country in implementation of the 20-Point Programme, Mr. Khanduri said the new work culture had started showing results and Uttarakhand would soon become a real time destination in many fields.
