With the month of Shravan (Sawan) beginning from July 13 and coinciding with Ramzan, the Islamic month of fasting, the security net in Uttar Pradesh would be cast far and wide for about a month to prevent any untoward incident. Ten companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF), in addition to 40 companies and two battalions of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), have been deployed in 30 sensitive districts of the State. Besides, 21 additional companies of Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) have been demanded by the State Government for deployment in sensitive areas.

IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Kumar Sengar said on Tuesday that security arrangements would be enforced till August 10 when the Shravan month will come to an end. He told reporters that besides the deployment of security forces, civil police and Home Guard personnel have also been stationed in the sensitive districts.
