Budhagiri High School adjudged best school of Ganjam district
BERHAMPUR: Best schools and teachers of Ganjam district were honoured at a special district level function organised for Teachers’ Day at Chatrapur on Wednesday.
This function was held at Onslow High School, Chatrapur.
Headmasters and representatives from all high schools of Ganjam district participated in this celebration.
Commissioner of state education department, Suresh Chandra Patnaik, director of SCERT, Sevak Tripathy and Ganjam district collector, V.K.Pandian attended this function as guests.
Twenty-three selected teachers of the district were honoured at this function. The Budhagiri High School at Bidipur Sasan village of Buguda block was adjudged as the best school of the district. This school received Rs. 1 lakh as prize money to be utilsed for developmental works.
Mahatma Gandhi High School of Shergad was adjudged the best high school in Bhanjanagar subdivision.
The MKCG medical campus high school was the best high school in Berhampur subdivision and Gopalkrushna High School, Subalia was the best high school of Chatrapur subdivision. These three schools got Rs. 50,000 each as reward.
Headmaster of medical campus high school, Prashant Padhi said this kind of promotion and recognition of good work at schools would bring in competitive spirit among schools to improve the infrastructure and teaching standards.
A special day
KORAPUT: It was a special day for Srinivas Sahu, who has become principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya here at the age of 17 years, thanks to observation of Teacher’s Day in the school.
It’s a wonderful experience to manage such a large residential school with a strength of 600 students, he said.
He had assigned 53 pupil teachers for managing the classes in the school. Prasant Kumar Patro, a student of Class XI, was too excited to ask fresh questions to his new teachers in the class. The responsibility had given an opportunity for the children to participate more closely in the school system, Srinivas added.
Teachers and staff of the school observed a token protest in response to call given by All India Navodaya Staff Association demanding implementation of pension scheme and restoring gratuity as per the Government rules, he added.
