A female elephant was found dead in a stream near Jhulenbar in Sundergarh district with the death being attributed to old age. The elephant did not have any injury mark on its body and died on Friday apparently due to old age, Sundargarh DFO Arjun Behera said today after post-mortem of the carcass. The elephant had strayed from its herd and was roaming alone under Hemgiri forest range for the last two months. The Forest Department was informed after local people found the carcass in the stream. This was the second death of an old elephant. Earlier, on January 27 an aged tusker was found dead. PTI
