PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Vikram Owners’ Welfare Association has decided to increase tempo fare by 50 paise with effect from Monday.
Association president D. Sakthivel said in a release that the decision came after the rise in the cost of vehicle spare parts owing to the hike in fuel price. The association would launch protests if the Police Department implemented the proposal of levying spot fines, the release added.
The government should ensure the availability of ordinary diesel at all bunks. The association also wanted the Municipal Commissioner to inspect the area allotted for tempos inside the new bus terminus as they lacked sufficient space, the release said.
