Despite the fact that the State government has taken steps such as introducing toll-free number, framing grievance redress rules, on-line filing of complaints to check corruption, and ensuring effective implementation of the MGNREGS, the flagship job scheme continues to be riddled with usual problems.

A team of Right to Food Campaign, Odisha, has said that as per section 3(3) of the MGNREG Act, labourers are entitled to get their dues within 7 to 15 days of the completion of the work. But few workers have been paid for the last three years in Jamankira block of Sambalpur district.

Pradip Pradhan, a member of the RTF, said the administration stayed wage payment on receiving a complaint that a machine was used in farm pond development project.
