Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation of Odisha Limited (TDCCOL), the apex co-operative organisation for sale and purchase of tribal products in the State, will procure the products manufactured by Navjeevan Co-operative Limited, formed by members of displaced families of Kalinganagar project of Tata Steel.
According to Tata Steel, the items to be procured from Navjeevan include T-shirts with Saura painting, wall hangings with Saura painting (without frame), Chanderi silk dupattas and silk angvastras with Saura paintings and file folders with Saura painting and greeting cards.
“The NCL has gone for product diversification by expanding its range of offerings to hand-painted T-shirts, dupattas, sarees, and multi-utility items like conference files and folders, flower vases, pen stands, laminated jute bags, and mobile covers. The strategy has paid off well with the co-operative generating a turnover of about Rs. 42 lakh,” the company said.
The NCL is being promoted by Tata Steel, which is coming up with mega steel mill at Kalinganagar, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
