BJD leaders feel party will gain strength in Aska area

BERHAMPUR: BJD leaders of Ganjam district welcomed re-induction of Aska MP Harihar Swain into the party.

Mr. Swain was suspended from the BJD following his anti-Naveen Patnaik statements some two years ago. His suspension was revoked on Tuesday following his promise to work as per the commands of the BJD high command.

Vice-president of Ganjam BJD Uma Charan Nayak and its general secretary Jagannath Sabat feel Mr. Swain's presence in Ganjam politics would strengthen the organisation in Aska area. They accept that in the recently held panchayat polls, the Congress make inroads into some areas of the Aska parliamentary constituency.

Mr. Sabat said that after his suspension from the party, Mr. Swain had become politically silent. Now, his political activities in the area would strengthen the BJD there. Silence of Mr. Swain had led to inter-party tussle in the BJD at Polasara, Sanakhemundi, Aska, Jagannathprasad blocks under the Aska parliamentary constituency of Ganjam district. This led to increase in organisational strength of the Congress under the leadership of its leader Ramkrushna Patnaik.
