They put up a science expo

PUDUCHERRY: A poem on Mahatma Gandhi written by T.R. Lakshmi Priya, a Class XI student of Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, for the poetry writing competition during the National Bal Shree Selection Competition 2009 has been selected to be awarded at the “Poetry Festival” to be held at New Delhi on January 31.

The team consisting of T.R. Lakshmi Priya and J. Arifun Hera of Class XI won the first prize in the “CCE ICON 2010”, a quiz competition based on climate change conducted by The Velammal International School, Chennai.

The National Service Scheme unit of the school organised a training programme to create awareness on meditation and exercise among students on January 23. Sundaramurthy, coordinator of NSS, Puducherry inaugurated the programme.

Students of The Study L’ecole Internationale put up a science exhibition on January 22 on the theme of global warming.

Head of Department, Civil Engineering, Pondicherry Engineering College S. Kothandaraman was the chief guest on the occasion. Chairman of the school K.M. Cherian was present.

A total of 400 students from kindergarten to Class VIII took part in the exhibition in groups of two or three students and competed in three categories of scientific exhibits – Seasons, Universe and elements of earth. A swimming pool was inaugurated in the school premises on the occasion. The guest also visited the vermicompost site in the school.
