PUDUCHERRY: Cultural events are aplenty as part of the Bonjour India Festival of France this January. Kicking off the festival is the extravagant street show ‘The Giraffes’ by Off Company that will parade down Goubert Avenue on January 19.
Goubert Avenue will witness many other events as part of the festival. An exhibition titled ‘En vol au-dessus de l’Inde’ (Flight over India) will be open to the public on Goubert Avenue from January 20 to January 25. A unique street animation show involving a ‘Mime Man’ and flying kites is slated for January 20. On January 24, there will be a street music event ‘Sacred Drums.’ Bharathi Park will play host to one dance event, Kanchipuri by Nrithyalaya Company on January 20, and a concert by Ziskakan on the 22nd.
For the cinephiles, there is the French Cinema Festival with filmmakers Mochel Fessler, Joel Farges and Michel Spinosa to look forward to. This will be held at the Alliance Francaise auditorium and in the open air on the beach, between January 23 and 26. ‘La Parenthese enchantee’ will be screened at the AF auditorium on January 26. An exhibition ‘Pondichery 1910’ by Mathieu Micheli will be held at AF Maison Colombani from January 15 to 22, ‘Embroidery’ by Jean-Francois Lesage from January 23 to 25, and ‘True Fiction’ by Bernard Faucon from January 26 to February 2.
There is something for everyone in Bonjour India.
