JAIPUR: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising “Marwar Krishi Utsav 2009: Bringing new technology to the farmers” in Jodhpur on December 7 and 8 to highlight and discuss the latest advancements in agriculture. It will also showcase new agricultural and food products.
According to a CII release here, this will be the fifth agri-conclave in a series organised by the industry body in Rajasthan during the past four years. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the two-day event, while about 5,000 farmers are expected to visit the exhibition.
A special feature of the conclave will be several “kisan goshthis” (farmers’ get-togethers) to address the issues of micro-irrigation, agricultural inputs, seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, horticulture, organic farming, risk management, insurance and financing in agriculture, agricultural marketing, value addition, animal husbandry and dairy, milk processing industry and cooperative farming.
According to CII, the kisan goshthis would provide an opportunity to the key stakeholders to discuss crucial issues and areas of concern pertaining to agriculture and evolve workable solutions. They will especially create linkages, promote best practices and develop new opportunities for farmers.
The State Government’s Agriculture Department will team up with CII to organise the event. A number of agricultural experts, representatives of non-government organisations, leaders from companies and academicians will also attend the kisan goshthis. Parallel to the get-together, an exhibition displaying quality products, services, processes and technologies will also be organised for the benefit of farmers.
