CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday that nuclear energy is the need of the country and it requires nuclear fuel for which the signing of the 123 nuclear deal is essential.

Addressing Congress workers at Uchana in Jind district, Mr. Hooda asserted that welfare of the country could not be achieved until and unless “the politicians rise above their party politics and their selfish interests”.

‘Politics based on ethics’

He said the Congress had its own ideology which laid stress on politics based on ethics and issues. The party workers were its backbone and it was their duty to propagate the policies and programmes of the Government to the public.

While asserting that his regime was committed to rural development by following the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, he said those leaders who left the Congress for one reason or the other were again welcome to the party fold.

Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh, who had organised the political training camp, said that the Congress party always worked for the welfare of the common public.
