New police station to come upsoon in the hill shrine area
A new police station will come up in Tara Tarini hill shrine area in Ganjam district to enhance security and law and order. It may be noted that a few weeks ago, a widow was gang-raped in the periphery of the hill shrine.
Though there has been a proposal to establish a police station in the hill shrine area, it has not materialised till date. At a meeting of the Tara Tarini Development Board (TTDB) held under the chairmanship of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), southern division, Bikash Mohapatra, who also happens to be the chairman of the TTDB, the Ganjam district administration and police have been directed by the RDC to expedite establishment of the police station at the hill shrine.
The meeting of the TTDB has been called up to discuss the law and order situation and developmental projects at the hill shrine. The meeting has been attended by Ganjam in-charge collector Lingaraj Rath, officials of district administration, secretary and other officials of the TTDB.
Construction work of a reception centre, bus stand, prasad mandap, and a lavatory complex at the hill shrine will start shortly. The State Tourism Department has already sanctioned Rs. 86 lakh for the purpose.
A Rs. 4-crore parking project is also on the anvil to streamline road communication to the hill top. The project will enable more vehicles to reach the hill top during festive seasons. The parking space at the hill top will be connected to the ghat road that reaches the hill top.
The ropeway to the hill top is being renovated and modernised. The private company, which has taken up the work, will get the ropeway ready for the public use soon. The RDC and TTDB chairperson directed the Chatrapur sub-collector to check safety standards and other details so that the ropeway adhered to the norms of the government. It may be noted that the modernised ropeway to the top of hill shrine is being constructed on the lines of modern ropeways in Haridwar.
The pending project of electrification of the hill shrine area through solar power lighting system will be finished soon. The project has been pending since a year. The State government has already sanctioned Rs. 50 lakh for the purpose.
