Armed persons looted Rs. 2.74 lakh from a person near the Sana Bazar branch of State Bank of India in the city on Tuesday.
According to police sources the victim was the cashier of a private firm of Desibehera Street, Pintu Maharana. He was carrying the cash along with an associate Pintu Maharana, to deposit it in the SBI branch. According to the FIR lodged in Badabazar police station, two persons on a motorcycle stopped them in a narrow street near the bank. They threatened them with a revolver and snatched away the cash from them. It is suspected that they were tracking the cashier and they knew that he was carrying cash with him.
