KOLKATA: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has issued a security advisory to passengers to keep the doors and windows of all trains shut while passing through Left-wing extremism-(LWE) affected regions.

The advisory comes in the wake of a recent incident where a passenger was hit by a bullet, suspected to have been fired by Maoists, as he stood at the door of a coach while the Howrah-Tatanagar Steel Express was passing through the Banstala Halt station in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district on Saturday.

A Central Reserve Police Force jawan and another passenger also suffered bullet injuries.
