JAIPUR: The Chief Personnel Officer of North Western Railway has been booked by the CBI for acquiring assets disproportionate to his income during the past 27 years while working in various capacities as Assistant Personnel Officer, Divisional Personnel Officer and Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer in the Department of Railways and in the Railway Ministry in the past.

Searches in the premises owned by Sunil Misra, an officer belonging to the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) by the CBI, Jaipur Branch, revealed assets worth Rs.3.45 crores against a likely saving of Rs.75.32 lakhs during the period from January 1982 to December 2009. Following this, the CBI registered cases against him and his wife, Anoop Misra, under Sections 109 of IPC and 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of PC Act 1988. The case against the latter was for abetting the offence by “intentionally aiding acquisition of disproportionate assets,” a CBI release here said. Enquiries revealed a cash balance of Rs.1.04 crores in various bank accounts in the name of Mr. Misra and his family members besides shares, mutual funds and certificates worth Rs.68 lakhs. A cash amount of Rs.3.70 lakhs was recorded during a house search.

The family owns two flats in Dwarka(Delhi), one flat in Jaipur's Jagatpura and a plot in the name o Mrs. Misra at Najafgarh, New Delhi. Mr. Misra has been found in possession of 3,100 sq yards of land in Rani Sati Nagar, Jaipur ,on which a palatial house worth Rs.80 lakhs stands. Two shops and a garage on Hospital Road, Agra, are in the name of Mrs.Misra.

The family's one car, a Honda City, is in the name Mr. Misra while another vehicle, an Ambassador, is owned by Mrs. Misra.
