Malladi Krishna Rao camping in Yanam to monitor relief work

Pondicherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy told the Assembly on Monday that the flood situation in Yanam was under control.

Replying to a question from R. Viswanathan (Communist Party of India) during Zero Hour in the House, the Chief Minister said the Local Administration and Tourism Minister and Yanam MLA, Malladi Krishna Rao, is camping in the flood-hit region to monitor relief and rehabilitation measures.

The situation was in hand now, Mr. Rangasamysaid.

Mosquito menace

Mr. Rangasamy assured A. Anbalagan (AIADMK) that the Government would take steps to end the mosquito menace in Uppalam constituency .The Member had earlier highlighted the problem faced by Uppalam residents due to mosquitoes.

He wanted desilting of the local drainage canal (Uppanar) without delay.

Mr. Rangasamy said he had asked the officials to look into the complaints of the member that the insects emanating from a local godown in Uppalam were posing threat to the health hazard to the residents.
