The pilgrims' paradise of Puri is gearing up for the 16 {+t} {+h} annual Puri beach festival being hosted by the Puri Hotel Association (PHA) in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Orissa Tourism and the Puri district administration from November 23 to 27. “This is the oldest festival of its kind in India and this year it would be an international affair with participation of cultural troupes from abroad for the first time. A number of folk dance and music troupes from several European nations would be performing in the festival being sponsored by the ICCR,” informed festival coordinator R.K.Das Mohapatra.

A large number of artistes and troupes representing the folk, classical, tribal and contemporary arts from within the country are slated to perform in the festival that would also feature Orissa's famed Prince Dance Group, he said and added that celebrated Bollywood singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik woule also be performing during the concluding evening. Orissa Tourism development Corporation would host a national sand art festival on the Puri beach during the festival that would be an added attraction, Mr. Das Mohapatra said .
