Power could be restored to 5.29 lakh consumers of Ganjam district by Wednesday, the deadline that had been provided by the Ganjam district administration to the private power distribution company Southco.
Ganjam district has 5.51 lakh electricity consumers. It may be noted that the Ganjam district administration had passed strict orders to the Southco, to get electricity supply resumed to all panchayats, Primary Health Centers (PHC), and Community Health Centers (CHC), drinking water supply systems of rural and urban areas, ATM counters and BSNL mobile communication towers by Nov 26.
As per a release of the power distribution company, only 11 panchayats out of total 475 panchyats have not got their power restored. The company authorities added that restoration work was continuing round the clock on war-footing to the rest of the panchyats, and around 11,000 consumers still do not have power supply.
Transporting materials due to damaged roads has become stumbling block in the path of restring power to rest areas. As per Southco authorities these areas would also get back power soon.
