CPI(M) leaders have demanded action against political leaders, who, for their own petty gains, are instigating Phailin- affected people to indulge in violent agitations.
They made this demand after a visit to Chikiti, where policemen and the general public were injured during a violent scuffle.
The mob that protested against alleged black marketing of kerosene in the area ransacked the local NAC office and this led to police action.
State Secretariat member Ali Kishore Patnaik condemned the police action at Chikiti.
He alleged that women, including a 19-year-old pregnant woman, was been beaten up by the police.
