To facilitate cooperation in areas of systems engineering

Initially, the pact will facilitate exchange of students at B.Tech-level from one to two semesters between two institutes

PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) has entered into an agreement with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Arkansas, the United States, to promote educational and cultural cooperation in the areas of education, research and other activities.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions would be directed toward areas of cooperation between Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology under the University of Arkansas and PEC in the areas of systems engineering, according to a release.The specific areas of cooperation between the two institutions are exchange of faculty, exchange of students, joint research activities, lectures, lectures via e-learning, participation in seminars and academic meetings, exchange of published academic materials and special short-term academic programme.


It has been proposed to involve the following four departments of the institutions – Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering.

Initially, the pact would facilitate exchange of students at B.Tech-level from one to two semesters between the two institutes. There would be concentration on specialised electives covering systems engineering domain. The exchange of faculty among the four departments would be looked at, the release said.

As a major follow-up of the venture, a master’s level programme in the area of systems engineering would be planned, the release said.
