To fight for 10 per cent reservation for Muslims

Patna: The Lok Janshakti Party would fight for providing 10 per cent reservation to Muslims and press for budgetary allocation for their development based on their population, party chief Ramvilas Paswan said on Friday.

Mr. Paswan, who was re-elected as national president for another five-year term for the fifth successive time at the party's national executive meeting here, told reporters that he favoured reservation for women from the Dalit, SC/ST and backward castes.

The LJP in a political resolution demanded reservation for SC/ST and backward classes in privates sector jobs and 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for economically backward people of upper castes. Mr. Paswan also demanded that those belonging to SC/ST and backward classes should get reservation while appearing in examinations for judicial services.

The LJP chief also demanded 35 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies. -- PTI
