Under the Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan and as per the norms of National Council for Teachers’ Education, the OTET was conducted in the State for the first time and after some initial hiccups, the test was conducted by the State Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here last month.

Sources said a total of 86,926 CT candidates had taken the Test last month, of which only 6,765 (7.7 per cent) were found eligible to become teachers in primary schools.
