Orissa Sahitya Akademi on Wednesday announced the names of its winners in different categories for the year 2007 as well as 2008.

Executive meet

The names of the winners were announced at a meeting of the executive council of the Akademi.

The meeting was presided over by Akademi president Ramachandra Behera.

2007 winners

Manoj Kumar Mohapatra for his novel ‘Nirvana'; Bishnu Sahu for his short story ‘Gotie Gaanre Chitrapata'; Aparna Mohanty for her poem ‘Jhiapain Jharkatie'; Ramchandra Mishra for his play ‘Ekanta Nivas'; Rabindra Prasad Panda for his ‘Madhyabitara Amtabichara' in the category of essay and criticism; Rabi Tripathy for his ‘Kadambini Amari Gaan Jhia' in the category of autobiography and travel literature; Mona Lisa Jena for ‘Astaraga' in the translation category; Ramesh Patri for his ‘Chikun O Chadhei' in the category of children's literature; and Alekh Chandra Padhihari for ‘Geeti Barnali' in the category of ‘Geeti Kabita'.

Bhima Prusty for his novel ‘Samudra Manisha'; Prakash Mohapatra for his short story collection ‘Kita O Anyanya Galpa'; Sunil Kumar Prusty for his poetry collection ‘Tanulatara Kabita'; Prasanna Das for his play ‘Kimbadanti'; Gouranga Charan Das for his book ‘Sanskruti, Jagatikaran O Mancha Rajaniti' in the category of essay and criticism; Manoranjan Pradhan for ‘Godabarish Mishra' in the category of biography; Asit Mohanty for ‘Bapu-Mo Maa' in the category of translation; Manas Ranjan Samal for ‘Manachuan Geeta' in the category of children's literature; and Brundaban Jena for ‘Preeti Smruti Hoi Pheriase Jeba' in the category of Geeti Kabita.
