Only Left parties can bring about policy changes for real ‘Jan Sasan (people’s rule)’, said Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) Sitaram Yechury.
Addressing a joint public meeting of the CPI(M) and the CPI at Chatrapur for the CPI(M) candidate for Berhampur parliamentary constituency Ali Kishore Patnaik and CPI candidate for Chatrapur Assembly seat Krushna Chandra Nayak, the national leader of the CPI(M) Mr. Yechury used mythological metaphors to describe the ‘anti-people politics’ of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He cited example of Mahabharat and termed the BJP to be involved in politics of Duhsasan and Duryodhan. “The divisive politics of Duhsasan and Duryodhan led to the destruction of Kaurav clan. In similar way the divisive communal politics of the BJP can destroy the country”, he said. He said the Congress is involved in politics of Sinhasan (power). During elections Congress comes up with pro-people and pro-poor promises and slogans but after getting the power it starts to serve only the capitalists, he said. He criticised the way the BJP was projecting Narendra Modi as future Prime Minister. He said in a democracy, the person to lead the country has to be decided by the electorate rather than a person being forced upon the voters. He made the audience remember that a delegation of the CPI(M) including him had met the Prime Minister and President demanding proper Central assistance for Odisha after the Phailin cyclone in October last year.
