Odisha Jan Morcha leader and Rajya Sabha Member Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Wednesday said that efforts were on to form a political alliance involving as many as 15 parties to fight both the ruling Biju Janata Dal and opposition Congress in the next elections.
Speaking to presspersons at a meeting that was held here to mark the joining of Congress leader from Athagarh Bibhuti Mishra in the Jan Morcha, Mr. Mohapatra said discussions had started among the like-minded parties and the alliance was likely to be formed within a month.
The OJM leader, however, did not clarify whether the Bharatiya Janata Party will be part of the proposed alliance to take on the two major parties. As regards his talks with Soumya Ranjan Patnaik who had been expelled from Congress recently, Mr. Mohapatra said Mr. Patnaik had not formed a new party or joined any party so far, and he may be consulted at a later date.
The Rajya Sabha Member also informed that his party may get a symbol by November end.
