Ramesh Chandra Sahoo, an officer of the Orissa Administrative Service, was honoured by the district administration at Koraput for his exemplary work as Block Development Officer (BDO) of Narayanpatna, worst affected by left wing extremism. His work was appreciated at a time when the district was facing acute shortage of officers with newly appointed officers exploring ways to avoid joining their positions in the district.

The assets created include development of hilly land to check shifting cultivation, check dams and field channels to ensure irrigation, and plantation of mango on FRA beneficiary lands.
